Sandy is one of the very well-known bachateros in Australia and overseas for her authentic flavour of
bachata and her love in promoting bachata wherever she goes.
Sandy travels to Dominican Republic once or twice every year to train with the best Bachata dancers
and instructors from the island. Not only is she able to give her students the most updated
knowledge and skills, she also believes that it is important to embrace it all from the roots, the
culture, and the music that forms this beautiful dance of Bachata.
Sandy has also been trained in other genres of dance such as Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive, Paso
Doble, Salsa, Merengue which has given her the solid foundation in various Latin dance techniques.
During her dance competition era, Sandy has reached the highest level. Bachata World Champion at World Salsa Summit Miami Twice World Champion runner up – Merengue at World Salsa Summit Miami
– Bachata at World Latin Dance Cup Orlando
14 times Australian national Bachata Champion.
In recent years, Sandy has shifted her focus to teach more on the social dancing aspect of bachata.
She works determinedly in finding a way to create an environment to grow bachata dance and the
music from Dominican Republic in Melbourne. She becomes the founder of Bachata Fever Dance
and La Bodega Dominican restaurant. She teaches there weekly and holds regular free social dancing
events to give back to the dance community.
Sandy has also taught many bachata workshops including Asia and those famous ones: World Bachata Festival Melbourne, and ADN Bachata Festival in Dominican Republic.
